The Johnny Rockets Group Inc. is an American restaurant franchise whose themed decor is based upon 1950s diner-style restaurants. Decor includes Coca-Cola advertising, featuring nearly life-size cardboard illustrations of women in World War II armed services uniforms (see WASP- Women Airforce Service Pilots), individual jukebox stations, chrome accents and red vinyl seats. The menu, presentation, counter seating and grilling area are based on an original restaurant from 1947 (still operating today), The Apple Pan in West Los Angeles. Hamburgers are grilled-to-order in full view of the customers and are served wrapped in paper in metal baskets. One location in Hawaii is called "Rock 'n Fun" and also has an arcade.

A dissatisfied customer left this review, "We've been to other Johnny Rockets restaurants and this location really takes the cake for being the worst. The service was bad: we had to flag down a waiter to get menus and despite signs advertising a promotion for a free shake with movie ticket stub, the waiter said, "not today." The food took more than 20 minutes and the ketchup on our table (and the next table) were empty. We asked the waiter for new ketchup and never heard back."

"Great for burgers and fries! Fun and exciting but would not consider making a career goals, I'd rather become a manager or own a franchise for the most part Cons: Not a secure job"

Cook (Former Employee) says

"The job is very unorganized. I heard mcdonalds has more structure to the process of of food handeling than anyone at rockets. And they dont have enough room for you to do a job well done."

Cook (Former Employee) says

"Job security and advancement"

Server (Former Employee) says

"Management was stealing hours ..a supervisor confirmed my doubts.. when she checked her hours she also noticed management was stealing her hours as well .. she checked the system and she saw that hours were being tampered with.. we werent allowed to take lunch breaks .. and for a year i wasnt able to get a clockout slip to keep track of my hiurs"

Cook/Prep (Former Employee) says

"Been there 3 years, and was the best cook in there! Hard work is USELESS there. I was CONSTANTLY overlooked and disregarded for advancement there. Job is a combination of Misogyny, Misandry, and overt RACISM. Managers are lazy and unprofessional, they let subpar workers that no-call no-show return to work the next day. They hire DRUG ADDICTS and make excuses for them when they come to work HIGH AND LETHARGIC."

atendente de lanchonete (Former Employee) says

"Lugar de gente sem senso de humildade, superiores chantagistas e desmotivadores. Lugar totalmente conturbado e dirigido por pessoas mentirosas."

WAITER (Former Employee) says

"This job will build you and force you to be a great server. BUt your on your own. They throw you in the water and expect you to swim. Tips are trash. Only work here if you need a server bootcamp."

Shift Supervisor (Former Employee) says

"The General manager literally messes with whoever tell him “no”. He pushes boundaries and “be-friends” you only to hold your personal life and problems against you later. The way he talks about his employees is completely unacceptable and rude and just down right disrespectful. I Cons: Discrimination, high expectations, GM curses at you, unhealthy work environment."

Waitress/Cashier (Former Employee) says

"Worked here for almost 2 years and it’s a good starting job but would not want to stay there. Management was terrible, very few employees so long shifts and no one to cover you if you were sick, unclear wants from management, favoritisms Cons: Overall terrible place to work"

OPS MANAGER (Former Employee) says

"Bad manager poor management. The Brand manager was pathetic lacks basis know how and displays very bad behaviour. He is very errogant is basically a brain less creature."

Server/Customer Service (Former Employee) says

"It's very sad to see an Owner be manipulated by a regional manager filling his head with lies about employees that worked like dogs for this company. This company PROMISED to transfer all of its Arrowhead employees when the store closed keeping it secret for 3 months. Then they left employees jobless! Not a fair company to work for."

Bartender (Former Employee) says

"Corrupt, dishonest, no morals. 15 years in F/B and I've never seen anything like it. Management is corrupt and dishonest. Managers take the best shifts and even take your customers when you turn your back. The entire culture is lie, cheat, steal and dont care about anyone but yourself. You can't go to GM's because they are all in on it. It's really quite a spectacle. If you want to learn the exact way to not live your life this is the place for you."

Server (Former Employee) says

"A los part time (de fin de semanas) les piden ir a trabajar días de semana y no les pagan como horas extras, solo ganan las propinas. El gran problema de esto, es si un trabajador tiene un accidente... quien cubriría esto? Cons: Les quitan las propinas, mucha explotación a los trabajadores"

Server and Chef (Former Employee) says

"poor management, terrible treatment of employees, unsanitary, understaffed at all times, miserable experience all around. I would never go back there in my life Cons: everything"

Server/Busser (Former Employee) says

"Do not work at the Long Beach location, manager does not know how to train properly, expresses her stress in front of customers and yells at you for not remembering what she said two hours ago saying you weren’t listening. Not professional at all. The management is supposed to be discreet when correcting mistakes not talking down to people in front of customers about how many mistakes you make. Some customer even looked at me and felt bad, and gave me a decent tip. But I don’t want to earn tips that way. As a trainee of course you’re gonna make a ton of small mistakes but to her all those are big problems. For example I went to simply log in while she was talking to me, but was still listening to her every word. And she yelled at me for “not listening.” This manager owns the place but I think she should be revoked of her management “skills” and position. I quite two days later because she was so discouraging and barely showed you how to do anything she just told you what to do and did it for you and complained that you did nothing."

Cook/Prep (Former Employee) says

"The restaurant is now closed. Beforehand it was run very rough. The manger was inexperienced and very bad at giving directions. Not an ideal job at all."

Cook (Former Employee) says

"My manager knowing sold decayed meat and moldy bread to paying customers. I fought with them constantly. Cooking is my passion at the time I only had 6 years of experience. My schedule was a like Rollercoaster in space. I'd be making anywhere between 30-63 hours a week. When I started I was given a position I didn't apply for and they told me I would make 40 hours. In reality they forced me to work 55 hours a week at minimum wage no less. They didn't give me a raise because I was talented they only gave me incremental increases because I threatened to leave. I left the job after an employee threatened to hurt me. He even went as far as to obtain my phone number to harass me further. Absolutely would not recommend to anyone who has standards in life or to anyone who wants a job they can be proud of. Cons: False hope, sweat shop conditions, employs straight up psychopaths."

Cook (Former Employee) says

"The people for the most part are fun to work with, lots of laughs but the management is terrible, only 2 out of 4 managers actually work and use their heads. The other 2 cant even order properly for 4 days worth. Or they order the wrong things. The "general manager" will change the schedule and give the select few she likes all the hours and the little hours everyone else gets, they are forced to go home early to "save labour" dont waste your time, most people end up with anxiety and depression working here. Avoid at all costs. Cons: Everything."

Assistant General Manager (Former Employee) says

"Too much drama goes around about management and staff. It is not a happy work environment. Managers hang out with staff it’s not very ethical. Pay was good and hours were good other than that I wouldn’t recommend. Not even to eat there."

Former Employee - Server says

"I worked at Johnny Rockets part-time for less than a year Cons: Lack of management and didn't follow local health codes"

Former Employee - Server says

"I worked at Johnny Rockets part-time for less than a year Cons: Everything from management to staff"

Current Employee - Food Server says

"I have been working at Johnny Rockets full-time for more than 5 years Cons: un organized company, unorganized management. No oppertunity for growth. Minimal hours which they can take away at or add at their convenience"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Johnny Rockets part-time for less than a year Cons: Everything. Management and staff are so disorganized. This place is awful."

Former Employee - Cashier says

"I worked at Johnny Rockets part-time for less than a year Cons: Hot Management Lack of consistency Food is cold"

Current Employee - Food Server says

"I have been working at Johnny Rockets full-time for less than a year Cons: Manager. Some staff members. Food."

Former Employee - Server says

"I worked at Johnny Rockets part-time for less than a year Cons: Management sucked. Working conditions sucked."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Johnny Rockets full-time Cons: Shaun, the owners son, and the owners, are poor managers. I've contacted former employees from when the store opened. Crappy management from Shaun and others is apparently a consistent issue. The first general manager they had (Nitin) was grossly inappropriate with underage employees. He put his hands on another employee. He was not fired for his behavior. He was working there illegally. This is not hearsay, this was my experience and a former Co workers experience."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Johnny Rockets part-time Cons: Stopped giving me hours after I left for my 2 weeks for the US Army Reserves even though he knew about it before he hired me"

Assistant Manager says

"I have been working at Johnny Rockets Cons: Just a number to them."
